Column: NC State QB Grayson McCall's impact on college football runs deeper than wins, losses
On a hot and humid day in downtown New Orleans, as Grayson McCall entered what was his most-anticipated college in 2022 , he answered question after question with an out-of-market reporter. While McCall was the hottest name in the room, he acted as if he was just anyone else. McCall didn’t act like he had a big ego. Dressed in a suit, the quarterback worked his way through an entire day of media like a professional. He was noticeably tired, but McCall seemed like he wanted to be there without the annoyance of answering similar questions for more than six hours straight. And at the end of the day, that’s how McCall has always carried himself. While he has a certain moxie about himself, the quarterback has class and is more than willing to do anything around the game of football. Although his time at NC State was cut short, McCall announced his retirement from playing the sport Wednesday night on social media due to head injuries, the quarterback’s career was key in making college football what it is over the past five years.
