Dailyn Swain emerging as NC State basketball recruiting target
NC State basketball coach Kevin Keatts became a big believer in utilizing the transfer portal this spring. That said, Keatts is also looking ahead to the 2023 class, such as On3 Consensus four-star wing Dailyn Swain from Columbus (Ohio) Africentric Early College.
Keatts added four newcomers to the Wolfpack program during the spring from other schools — Ole Miss guard Jarkel Joiner, La Salle forward Jack Clark, Utah forward/post Dusan Mahorcic and Winthrop post D.J. Burns Jr.
However, Keatts is not abandoning recruiting the high schools ranks for NC State basketball. Swain told On3’s Jamie Shaw that NC State is one of three teams recruiting him the hardest at the moment.
“They have a lot of big guards there and have had a lot of big guards come through and go to the next level,” Swain noted. “I’m a big guard, so that’s intriguing. They have guards going into the draft now that are my height, so they do well with players like me.”
Swain (6-foot-6, 170 pounds) is rated by the On3 Consensus, the only equally-weighted average from all four major recruiting companies, as the No. 93 prospect nationally in the 2024 class, including the No. 20 small forward nationally and the No. 4 hoops star available in Ohio.

Swain told On3 that NC State is one of his official visits he hopes to line up in the near future, joining Cal. He has already made an OV to Marquette, and Swain noted that he would like to make a return trip there.
“I want to commit after then summer, before my senior year,” Swain said. “I want to go to a school where I can come in and play, make an impact. Winning is big too. I wouldn’t say location really matters to me, but fit. Player development is a big piece for me too.”
According to On3, Swain brings good versatility to the court.
“Dailyn Swain is a length guard with a projectable frame,” Shaw noted. “He is comfortable on the ball, initiating in half and full court. Swain sees the floor well and is slippery, in transition, attacking the rim.
“He is very unselfish; you would almost like to see him be more aggressive in attacking the basket. Swain is also very young for his grade. …. He will need to continue adding weight and grow in aggressiveness. There are a lot of tools to like here with some ceiling for continued growth.”
On3’s rankings has Swain the No. 92 prospect nationally and the No. 19 small forward in the country.
