NC State football head coach Dave Doeren, set to embark on his 10th season in Raleigh, is going to be around a little bit longer.

Doeren received a contract extension that lasts through the 2026 season, NC State director of athletics Boo Corrigan announced Thursday. Sources have told The Wolfpacker that the agreement is for $5 million annually.

In addition, NC State confirmed that all 10 of the assistant coaches on the staff have received new agreements, although no terms were announced. That will make the Wolfpack the only team in the ACC to retain its entire staff from last season.

Doeren is 64-49 in nine years at NC State. In four of the past five years, the program has won at least eight games and achieved nine victories three times while finishing the season ranked in the top 25 twice, including No. 19 in the final coaches’ poll in 2021.

During that five-year span, NC State has also finished with an ACC record of 25-17, which includes an injury-riddled 1-7 league mark in 2019. In the other four seasons during that stretch, the Pack is 24-10 in league play, including setting a school record seven league victories in 2020.

Doeren has led NC State to seven bowl appearances in his nine years, and he has the second most wins in school history, trailing only Earle Edwards’ 77 victories from 1954-70.

“Dave continues to provide tremendous leadership for NC State Football and elevate the standards for our program,” said Corrigan in a prepared statement. “We continue to see competitive growth, academic growth and there is great continuity among our entire staff. Dave and Sara are deeply invested in both the NC State and Raleigh communities, and we’re excited for even greater days ahead.”

“NC State is home for my entire family, and I’m so grateful to Chancellor [Randy] Woodson and Boo Corrigan for their support and commitment to Wolfpack Football,” Doeren added. “We continue to build something special in Raleigh, and I’m so excited about the future.”

NC State football begins spring practice March 2 with high expectations for the 2022 season, including receiving mention as a potential top-10 team in some way-too-early top 25s.

The Pack’s season opener is Sept. 3 at East Carolina.
