Former NC State kicker Brayden Narveson’s NFL career will continue after he was claimed via waivers by the Green Bay Packers on Tuesday afternoon.

Narveson, who kicked for the Wolfpack during the 2023 season, spent the offseason and training camp with the Tennessee Titans after he went undrafted. He went 6-for-7 on field goal attempts, including a 59-yarder in his second preseason appearance.

Narveson, who was perfect on extra points this preseason, hit a 46-yard game-winning field goal in that game to propel Tennessee over the Seattle Seahawks 16-15. He also hit a 34-yard field goal in his preseason debut, while Narveson only missed a 59-yard attempt at the end of the first half against the New Orleans Saints this past weekend.

The Scottsdale, Ariz., native was not in line to beat out incumbent kicker Nick Folk in Tennessee, but the Titans gave Narveson an opportunity to audition in front of the 31 other teams with in-game kicks.

Narveson’s consistency in the preseason paid off as the Packers, who cut kicker Anders Carlson on Monday, picked up the former Wolfpack leg onto their active roster. He is one of two NC State specialists currently on an NFL roster, joining former punter A.J. Cole III, who is a three-time Pro Bowl selection with the Las Vegas Raiders.

In his lone season at NC State, Narveson went 18-for-23 on field goal attempts, including the program-record 57-yarder at Duke in Week 7. He ranked ninth in the ACC in scoring at 7.1 points per game, while he was fourth in the conference in field goals attempted and fifth in attempts made.

Narveson was a consistent leg for the Pack, which included a seven-game streak without a miss (9-for-9) in the middle of the campaign. He also kicked a game-winner at Virginia in Week 4, nailing a 33-yard field goal to beat the Cavaliers in prime time.

Before his lone season at NC State, Narveson spent three seasons at Western Kentucky, where he did not miss an extra point in his career. Now, he will begin his NFL active roster career with the Packers, who open the 2024 season against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sept. 6 in Sao Paolo, Brazil.
