NC State’s transfer portal class is starting to come into form. The Wolfpack landed its second transfer commitment as Georgetown wing Dontrez Styles picked the red and white Thursday night, he told On3 Sports.

Styles, a 6-foot-6, 212-pound guard, averaged 12.8 points and 5.8 rebounds as he started all 32 games in his lone season with the Hoyas. He logged a career-best 26 points with Georgetown against Mount St. Mary’s on Nov. 18.

The Kinston, N.C., native scored in double figures in 23 of his 32 appearances at Georgetown this past season. He eclipsed 20 points five times, including twice during Big East play (23 points vs. UConn on Feb. 10 and 20 points at Seton Hall on Feb. 7).

Before Styles went to the District, he visited NC State after he put his name in the transfer portal last year following two seasons at North Carolina. He chose the Hoya, but now, is back in the fold with the Wolfpack.

The former Tar Heel appeared in 45 games in Chapel Hill, averaging 1.8 points and 1.3 rebounds a game on 41.9% shooting from the field.

During his time with the Tar Heels, Styles had his best game in the team’s NCAA Tournament second round win against No. 1 seed Baylor in 2022. He had nine points with four made field goals and two steals in 24:57 on the court.

As a prep player, Styles was a four-star recruit out of Kinston (N.C.) High, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He was the second-highest rated player in North Carolina in the class of 2021, while he was the No. 62 recruit in the country.

Styles will join a Wolfpack squad that is fresh off its first Final Four run since 1983. NC State won more than one game in the NCAA Tournament for the first time under coach Kevin Keatts this season, and that turned into a dash to the final weekend of the NCAA Tournament.

NC State has two available scholarships, at the moment, for the 2024-25 season. The Wolfpack will raise at least two banners to open the campaign, honoring the team’s ACC Tournament Championship and the Final Four appearance from this past season.
