How former NC State players have fared at their transfer portal destinations

NC State’s transfer portal haul from this past offseason ranked eighth in On3’s team portal rankings, which takes into account the players that each school brought in and what departed the program over ahead of the new season. 

The Pack acquired 15 transfers, while 24 players departed for new colleges ahead of the 2024 campaign. Here’s a look at how most of the former NC State players have fared at their new schools with three weeks left this fall.

NC State transfers in action elsewhere:

WR Julian Gray – Liberty: Gray has logged four receptions for 52 yards with  touchdown in four games played with the Flames. He has made just one catch in each appearance, including a 34-yard touchdown reception. in a 37-17 win over Middle Tennessee State. He has also added three carries for 52 yards and a touchdown — all against the Blue Raiders, including a 41-yard scamper to the end zone. 

CB Nate Evans – Delaware: Evans has recorded 13 total tackles, including eight solo stops, with five passes defended and an interception at Delaware. Evans has two multi-pass breakup games this season in his first time playing consistent defensive snaps at the collegiate level. 

RB Delbert Mimms III – Eastern Michigan: Mimms has logged 154 carries for 629 yards with seven rushing touchdowns, while he has added 15 receptions for 124 yards and a touchdown in his first season with the Eagles. Mimms, who surpassed his career best totals in carries and rushing yards this season, logged a 145-yard rushing effort with two touchdowns in a 52-33 win at Kent State on Sept. 28. He is just one rushing score away from tying last season’s total he had at NC State. 

CB Cecil Powell – Troy: Powell has logged 23 total tackles, including seven solo stops, with a pass defended in his first season with the Trojans. He has appeared in eight games, recording at least two total tackles in each appearance this fall. 

OL Lyndon Cooper – Pitt: Cooper has logged 601 total snaps in nine appearances as the Panthers’ starting center. Cooper has allowed eight total pressures, which led to six quarterback hurries, one hit and a sack, this season. The former NC State offensive lineman has posted an above-average 79.0 pass blocking mark, according to Pro Football Focus. 

S Jakeen Harris – North Carolina: Harris has logged 46 total tackles, including 24 solo stops, with three passes defended in his sixth and final season of college football. The safety logged an 11-tackle performance in the Tar Heels’ 21-20 loss to Duke on Sept. 28, while he also had a 10-tackle effort in the season-opening win at Minnesota on Aug. 29. 

RB Michael Allen – UNLV: Allen recorded 19 carries for 108 yards in three games before opting to redshirt the rest of the season with the Rebels. 

OT Jaleel Davis – FIU: Davis has played 144 total snaps between left and right guard in nine games with the Golden Panthers. The offensive lineman made his second start of the season in a 34-13 win over New Mexico State, where he posted a career-best 81.9 pass-blocking score, according to PFF. Davis has allowed four pressures this season, all have turned into a quarterback hurry. 

RB Jordan Houston – Marshall: Houston has logged 70 carries for 336 yards in nine games with the Thundering Herd this fall. The tailback logged a season-best 11 carries in Marshall’s 37-3 win over Southern Miss this past weekend. Houston’s season high rushing total is 80 yards in a 28-23 win over ULM, while he ripped a 45-yard sprint off against the War Hawks.

WR Anthony Smith – ECU: Smith has put together a career-best season at ECU. The wideout’s 31 receptions for 616 yards and five receiving touchdowns surpassed his previous four seasons at NC State combined. The wideout logged a single-game career-high 120 yards on just three catches in the team’s 49-14 win over Florida Atlantic on Nov. 7. 

TE Chris Toudle – Western Michigan: Toudle has logged five catches for 68 yards and a touchdown in his first season with the Broncos. He has recorded a catch in just three games this season, including a three-reception, 54-yard game with a touchdown in the 59-31 win over Bethune-Cookman on Sept. 14. 

DL CJ Clark – Miami: Clark has recorded 15 total tackles, including five solo stops, with 0.5 sacks in his sixth season of college football. The nose tackle has logged a tackle in each of the Hurricanes’ first 10 games this fall. 

QB MJ Morris – Maryland: Morris didn’t win the starting job at Maryland after competing in a preseason competition. He is 10-of-13 passing for 135 yards and two touchdowns with 11 carries for 40 yards and a score in four appearances with the Terrapins. Morris’ two passing scores came in a 48-23 loss at Minnesota — 7-of-8 passing for 122 yards — on Oct. 26. 

WR Porter Rooks – Eastern Michigan: Rooks has not appeared in a game this season after suffering a season-ending injury.

LB T.K. Wright – Temple: Wright has logged one total tackle for the Owls. 

WR Terrell Timmons Jr. – Colorado: Timmons has caught four passes for 22 yards in his third season of college football. He logged two receptions for 12 yards in a 28-9 win over Colorado State on Sept. 14. 

DL Nick Campbell – App State: Campbell has logged seven total tackles, including two solo stops, in his third season of college football. He logged a season-best four total tackles in a 48-14 loss to South Alabama on Sept. 19.

LB Daejuan Thompson – Garden City Community College: Thompson has recorded 21 total tackles with one sack and two forced fumbles in eight games played with the Broncbusters.
