How NC State approached Kevin Concepcion’s development using the weight room
For NC State star wide receiver Kevin Concepcion, his first season of college football was a learning process. He was the focal point of the offense — used as a hybrid wideout/running back at times — so routine usage at the collegiate level took some time to get used to. Concepcion, who racked up 71 receptions for 839 yards and 10 touchdowns, also logged 41 carries for 320 yards. While he adjusted to being the Wolfpack’s featured offensive weapon, Concepcion’s body took a beating with the consistent touches. This offseason, however, NC State used it to add muscle to Concepcion’s 5-foot-11 frame. The goal was to add muscle without slowing the explosive runner down when he is in the open field. And so far, it seems like that paid off this summer.
