Instant observations: NC State snaps 9-game losing streak with win over Boston College

NC State avoided making history against Boston College on Saturday afternoon. And that’s a good thing for the Wolfpack. After it dropped its previous nine games, which tied the program record, the Pack found a way to get back in the win column for the first time in 38 days. NC State downed Boston College 70-62 inside the Lenovo Center in what was one of the more engaged crowds of the season. NC State's victory marked just its second since New Year's Day and its fifth since Thanksgiving. The Wolfpack jumped out to an 11-point lead in the opening five minutes, which proved to be enough as NC State kept the Eagles at arm’s length the rest of the way. NC State shot 39.3 percent from the field, including five made 3-pointers, while it limited Boston College to a 35.4 percent mark with five made from distance. Senior guard Jayden Taylor paced the Pack with 19 points, while senior forward Brandon Huntley-Hatfield added 11 and senior guard Marcus Hill chipped in with 8. Here are three observations from NC State’s much-needed win.
