Cal guard DJ Campbell drove from the right corner to the rim early in the second half, looking to generate offense inside, but the shot rattled off the iron and onto the deck. NC State's Ben Middlebrooks and Dontrez Styles were both there to collect the loose ball, but neither ended up with it. Instead, it was Campbell, who outhustled his way to the offensive rebound. The former Western Carolina transfer was able to finish with a reverse layup on his second attempt to keep the Golden Bears ahead. Cal, who entered the night as one of the most prolific offensive rebounding squads in the nation, put that on full display in its 65-62 win over NC State on Saturday evening at the Lenovo Center. The Golden Bears collected 12 offensive rebounds, which allowed Cal to score 8 second-chance points in its 3-point win. The Pack was outrebounded 38-31 for game. Here are three observations from the Wolfpack’s third-straight one possession loss of the season.
