NC State star linebacker Isaiah Moore is in the middle of his sixth fall camp. From All-ACC seasons to a year cut short due to injury, Moore is as experienced an athlete as there is in college football. This year, every time he runs onto the practice field, the linebacker, and the rest of the Wolfpack, have one common goal — a championship.

Moore admitted that the team was in the middle of the “dog days” of fall camp right now, with the week-one matchup with East Carolina a little more than two weeks away. That is not affecting the effort and drive of the team.

“I think you’ve just got to understand what the end goal is,” Moore said. “The end goal is winning a championship. Whatever we need to do to get there, we have all bought in to do it.”

Moore is extremely familiar with training camp at NC State, but he still sees August as an opportunity to sharpen skills and become the best player possible headed into the season. There is a system in place to help the Wolfpack veterans avoid burnout, Moore said, but that does not stop them from putting in as much work as possible.

“I think you always have to get better as a player,” Moore said. “You’re never a finished product.”

This is Moore’s first time back on the field after recovering from a knee injury that led to him missing the second half of the 2021 season. Camp gives him, along with the other Wolfpack athletes returning from injuries, the opportunity to get the muscle memory from past seasons back and re-establish communication.

Moore is a competitor, so there is no chance he would approach defensive coordinator Tony Gibson about potentially resting during practice.

“I’d never do that,” he said. “You can ask [Gibson]. He and I go back-and-forth on how many plays I want to get. I don’t ever want to take a play off.”

The ACC Network has followed around the team throughout camp for its all-access mini-series on NC State football. So far, Moore says the experience has been cool, and the team will likely sit down and watch all three episodes together at some point at the end of camp.

He did mention the crew took a day off Tuesday.

“I guess it’s all-access except for [Tuesday],” Moore joked.

NC State is more than two weeks into camp, and Moore shouted out a couple of underclassmen athletes who are standing out.

“I think [defensive lineman] Davin Vann is having a great camp,” Moore said. “He’s been balling out. On the offense side of the ball, [wide receiver] Julian Gray has been making some great catches in practice. There’s a number of guys that have just been really showing up, a lot of young guys really performing well, both on offense and defense and on special teams.”

As far as his personal health headed into the fall, Moore said he is ready to compete once again as the team approaches its season opener.

“I feel great,” Moore said. “I’m 100 percent. I feel like I’m ready to rock for game one.”
