Former NC State football linebacker Isaiah Moore knew the No. 1 question that NFL scouts would have about him: Is he fast enough? Especially after Moore tore his ACL midway through the 2021 season.

“They didn’t know if I could play in space,” Moore understood.

So as NFL teams gathered for the NC State football Pro Day on Tuesday, many eyes were on Moore. He chose not to run at the draft combine in Indianapolis a month prior, thus raising the stakes for his testing results in Raleigh.

And there was a noticeable buzz from where media was allowed to observe after Moore ran his 40.

According to Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network, Moore was timed by various scouts at between 4.62 and 4.68 seconds in the 40-yard dash.

“A full tenth faster than scouts expected,” Pauline added.

Pauline further reported that Moore was timed between 4.38 and 4.44 seconds in the short shuttle and as fast as 7.04 seconds in the 3-cone.

“I just wanted to show them, No. 1, I’m healthy coming off the ACL tear two years ago, and that I’m more than a first and second down guy,” Moore noted. “I play on third down. I can cover in space.”

Moore did not want to single out specific teams, but he generalized that he has “talked to everybody.”

“I love talking about football,” Moore added.

All of Moore’s focus recently has been consumed for getting ready for pro day, so much so that he has spent next to no time considering what he will be doing during draft weekend.

“It’s going to be crazy,” Moore stated. “It’s going to be a waiting game. It’s going to be surreal. You have to understand what you are waiting for.”

Moore has been well prepared for the jump to the next level. He ended his NC State football career with 341 tackles, including 43.5 for loss and 11.5 sacks.

That was enough to place Moore tied for 11th with former NC State safety Andre Maddox for career tackles in program history. Moore’s 43.5 tackles for loss were fifth most for the Wolfpack.

“I came here as a 17-year old kid, and Coach Thunder [Dantonio Burnette], Coach [Dave] Doeren, Coach Hux [Dave Huxtable] when he was here and Coach [Tony] Gibson, they’ve really worked hands-on with me,” Isaiah Moore noted. “They’ve built me from the ground up.

“I owe a tremendous amount of my success to NC State.”
