BREAKING: Local RB Isiah Jones commits to NC State
Isiah Jones is staying home. The Rolesville (NC) High running back officially announced his commitment to NC State Friday afternoon, kicking off an exciting recruiting weekend for the Wolfpack.
He picked the Pack over Boston College, Columbia, NC Central and others after earning an offer from the program at a June 9 camp. Jones is super familiar with the Wolfpack program, attending high school just a half hour’s drive from campus, and he now joins three-star prospect Duke Scott in the 2024 running back class.
The running back put together an extremely impressive camp June 9, measuring 5-10 ¾ and 189 pounds, running a 4.60 40-yard dash, recording a 34-inch vertical and a 9-8 broad jump and clocking a 4.33 5-10-5 shuttle time.
After the camp, he met with head coach Dave Doeren, who extended a very meaningful scholarship to the class of 2024 star.
“It feels amazing,” Jones said. “It’s from a school I’ve been wanting to go to ever since I was little…
“It’s a feeling I can’t explain, but I really appreciate the coaching staff and everybody at NC State.”

He earned the scholarship during camp, named NC state the leader of his recruitment in an interview with TheWolfpacker.com, and returned just a few days later with his family. They met with Doeren, went through a photoshoot and continued to build bonds with the Wolfpack program.

Jones committed to the Wolfpack on that visit and is now the eighth member of the 2024 class. The family atmosphere around the program stood out to Jones, which helped him make his decision.
“It’s just a family, and you can see that once you step in the facilities or just walk around campus,” Jones said.
Former Wake Forest High star and current NC State redshirt-sophomore running back Demarcus Jones II is Isiah Jones’ cousin, so he will take that family atmosphere to the next level once he joins the program. The running back informed TheWolfpacker.com that he will likely take his official visit in January. He has not made a decision on potentially enrolling early.
Running back’s coach Todd Goebbel was his primary recruiter, and Jones said the staff is impressed with his ability to make big plays. During his junior year at Rolesville, he carried the ball 154 times for 1122 yards and 11 touchdowns, recording 5 performances of 100 yards or more and averaging 7.3 yards per carry.
