BREAKING: 3-star CB Jivan Baly commits to NC State
Jivan Baly announced Sunday evening that he has committed to the Wolfpack. The three-star cornerback has been a top priority for NC State’s staff for a long time, and he made his decision public quickly following an official visit.
He selected the Pack from a list of 30 Division-I offers, including Power Five programs such as Florida State, Miami, South Carolina and others. NC State maintained consistent interest for more than a year, and that led to the Norcross (Ga.) Meadow Creek High star joining the program.
After reaching his decision, he announced the commitment on Twitter.
Standing 6-0, 170 pounds, his stature lines up with the tall cornerbacks who have had consistent success with cornerbacks coach Brian Mitchell. He has a very strong bond with muiltiple members of the staff, including director of scouting Jatavis Sanders, nickels coach Freddie Aughtry-Lindsay and Mitchell.
“When I got there, it was just feeling like a home to me,” Baly said in an interview earlier this year. ”The love, you could feel it from them. I also have a good bond with coach Mitchell, the cornerbacks coach over there, and coach Sanders as well and coach Freddie [and] coach Doeren. The whole coaching staff just feels like a family to me for real.”

For Baly, the decision-making process goes beyond the football field.
“I’m not thinking about football when I’m going to a school,” Baly said. “I’m thinking about what my life is going to be at that school outside of football.”
He visited Raleigh on four total occasions.
Bryant Harrison, the former recruiting coordinator for Meadowcreek high who now coaches at Central Gwinnett High, was very complementary of NC State’s approach to Baly’s recruitment.

“They’ve done a great job with just showing that real love. . .” Harrison said earlier this year.
“To me, that is what’s separating them from everybody else. It’s not just about football all the time.”
During his junior season, the defensive back recorded 36 tackles, including 3 for loss, and made 2 interceptions. Meadowcreek finished the 2022 season with a 7-4 record.
Baly is the No. 90 cornerback in the country, the No. 916 prospect overall and the No. 107 recruit in Georgia’s 2024 class. NC State led his Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) at 92.9 percent prior to his commitment.
The Wolfpack now holds four defensive back commitments for this cycle— Three-star cornerback Asaad Brown II, three-star safety Brody Barnhardt, three-star athlete Ronnie Royal III and Baly.
