BREAKING: 3-star LB Joshua Ofor commits to NC State
NC State picked up a major addition to its linebacker class, when Joshua Ofor, one of the Pack’s top remaining 2024 recruiting targets, committed to the program Monday afternoon.
The three-star, Jonesboro (Ga.) Mundy’s Mill High star picked NC State over offers from Ole Miss, Maryland, Tulane and others. He announced his decision during a ceremony at his school.
Ofor informed TheWolfpacker.com that he shut down his recruitment during his Sept. 8-10 visit. That was his second official after stopping by East Carolina for a weekend in June and canceling an early fall trip to Ole Miss.
His recruitment expanded over the summer, which when he picked up his Wolfpack offer. NC State’s recruiting staff’s connections in Georgia helped Ofor quickly grow a connection with the coaches. Defensive coordinator Tony Gibson, the linebacker’s primary recruiter, made him a priority over the past few months.
The linebacker visited NC State for the first time during the Alpha Wolf Showcase and quickly set his official visit afterwards. That weekend in Raleigh helped play a role in his decision.
“It was getting to know all of the coaches, actually getting to talk with them and be with them for the whole time,” Ofor said after the visit. “That’s really what helped it all out.”

He also really enjoyed the chance to take a closer look at Raleigh. The linebacker is from the Atlanta area and said he liked staying close to a city.

Kelvon McBride hosted him that weekend, and Ofor said he saw some similarities between him and the Wolfpack freshman linebacker. Overall, he meshed well with his potential future teammates.
“McBride is a really laid back, chill guy,” Ofor said. “And with the other linebackers, they’re all cool.”
On3 considers Ofor the No. 66 linebacker in the nation and the No. 78 recruit in Georgia. During his junior season, he made 85 tackles, including 10.5 for loss. The senior is on pace to surpass those numbers by a wide margin. Mundy’s Mill has only logged its stats through 2 games, but he recorded 23 total tackles, including 5 for loss, across those matchups.
Joshua Ofor is NC State’s third linebacker commit of the 2024 cycle, joining three-star prospects Zane Williams and Cannon Lewis, and the No. 19 member of the class overall. He plans on enrolling early in January and majoring in either human biology or business administration.
