JUCO outfielder Jet Gilliam commits to NC State baseball
NC State baseball picked up a junior college commitment this week from Jet Gilliam— an outfielder from the College of Southern Nevada. He starred at the JUCO level for one season before joining the Pack.
Gilliam, who measures 6-0, 175 pounds while batting and throwing right, finished his sophomore season with a .348 batting average over 51 games played.
He also hit 6 home runs, knocked in 43 runs, stole 14 bases and scored 63 runs. During the 2024 season, the outfielder recorded a .963 fielding percentage. He made the all-region first team this season and made the Region 18 all-tournament squad.
It remains unclear whether he will join the Pack in 2024 or 2025. His Southern Nevada bio lists him as a class of 2025 graduate.
The rising sophomore’s college announced the news on social media Friday evening.
He spent this summer in the Appalachian League playing for the Kingsport Axmen. The outfielder appeared in in 21 games, hitting .284 with 20 runs batted in and a .379 average with runners in scoring position. Gilliam led his squad with 23 hits and 16 runs, while also going 6 for 6 on stolen bases.

The outfielder hails from Las Vegas, Nevada and was a part of the 2023 class coming out of high school. Perfect Game considered him the No. 1 outfielder in Nevada coming out of Desert Oasis High. The former Long Beach State signee ranked as the No. 383 prospect nationally and the No. 64 outfielder in the country.
Gilliam is NC State’s fourth junior college commit of the offseason. Right-handed pitcher Landon Carr from Gaston College, outfielder Brayden Fraasman from Lincoln Trail College and left-handed pitcher Eli Pillsbury from John A. Logan College all committed earlier this year.
He joins a talented transfer class that also includes Vanderbilt first baseman Matt Ossenfort, UNC Greensboro right handed pitcher Julien Peissel, Georgia Tech third baseman Ryan Jaros, Ole Miss utility player Trenton Lyons, VCU infielder Chris McHugh and Campbell outfielder Dalen Thompson.
