BREAKING: Keenan Jackson flips from UNC to NC State
NC State landed a massive flip from a major in-state rival on National Signing Day. After decommitting from UNC Tuesday evening, three-star wide receiver Keenan Jackson signed with the Wolfpack Wednesday morning.
He is the 24th recruit and the fifth receiver in the 2024 class, completing a star-studded group that includes three of the top pass catchers in North Carolina— Jonathan Paylor, Terrell Anderson and Jackson.
The 6-3, 185-pound wide receiver from Waxhaw, North Carolina, took four official visits this year before originally committing to the Tar Heels, stopping by NC State, UNC, Virginia Tech and Duke. He previously expressed to TheWolfpacker.com that he wants to stay close to home for his collegiate career.
His NC State official visit went really well.
“My mom, my grandparents, they all loved it,” he said after the visit in June.
After taking his official visits, Jackson committed to UNC June 29. He remained committed to the program through his senior season before reopening his recruitment Tuesday.
NC State gives him the opportunity to remain close to home and play for a position coach, Joker Phillips, who he already has a close bond with.

“He’s one of the funniest coaches out there,” Jackson said. “I’m pretty sure anyone will say that, and my family loves him as well.”
During his senior season with Matthews (N.C.) Weddington High, Jackson took home the 4A state title after catching 2 touchdown passes in Carter-Finley Stadium. He finished the year with a whopping 102 receptions for 1,704 yards and 19 touchdowns. Jackson now holds Weddington’s single-season record for both catches and receiving yards.
The Wolfpack receiver signee will enroll in January.
The On3 Industry Ranking considers Jackson the No. 116 wide receiver and the No. 24 prospect in North Carolina’s 2024 class. He also held offers from Maryland, Duke and many others.
