Kevin Keatts will return at NC State, Boo Corrigan reiterates
If there were any lingering doubts about the immediate future of NC State basketball coach Kevin Keatts, Wolfpack director of athletics Boo Corrigan erased them Wednesday with comments to Raleigh News & Observer reporter Jonas Pope IV.
Corrigan told Pope that Keatts has “earned the right” to continue.
“We’ve had guys here for four and five years,” Corrigan added to Pope. “I want to try continuity and see what that looks like and be able to judge at that point.”
Corrigan’s comments came after he also had a recent radio interview about Keatts on the Adam Gold Radio Show.
“Kevin Keatts is our guy,” Corrigan told Gold. “Kevin Keatts is our basketball coach, and I support Kevin Keatts.”
Corrigan noted during that radio appearance and reiterated with Pope the rash of significant injuries and extended NCAA investigation, which recently ended with a positive outcome for the Pack. Corrigan acknowledged with Gold that everyone wants to win more, but Corrigan applauded the team’s efforts and the connectivity the players have with Keatts.
“He’s our guy, he’s our coach and we look forward to better days ahead,” Corrigan concluded to Gold.
Keatts and NC State are endured one of the toughest seasons in school history, with the Pack carrying an 11-18 overall record and 4-14 mark in the ACC entering Wednesday night’s contest at Wake Forest, a 9 p.m. tipoff that will be televised on RSN.

Overall, Keatts is 90-65 in five seasons at NC State, including 42-48 in the ACC. The Wolfpack won at least 20 games in Keatts’ first three years and did not have a losing conference mark until this year.
The Wolfpack has been hit hard by injuries in 2021-22, with redshirt junior center Manny Bates and junior forward Greg Gantt missing essentially the entire season, and freshman forward Ernest Ross going down in January for the remainder of the year.
