LB Jordan Moreta commits to NC State
When Paramus (N.J.) Catholic linebacker Jordan Moreta was called into NC State coach Dave Doeren’s office during the Wolfpack’s junior day event, he heard something he wasn’t expecting.
“Whenever you’re ready to give me that call, you can make that happen,” Moreta recalled the Wolfpack’s 13th-year coach telling him, referring to a commitment.
It didn’t take long for the 6-foot, 215-pound defender to do just that. Moreta, who picked up an offer on Jan. 23, made the call to the Pack’s coaching staff and committed shortly after his first trip to Raleigh. He also held offers from Duke and Liberty.
Moreta raved about his recent NC State visit in an interview with TheWolfpacker.com shortly after he returned home to New Jersey. He enjoyed the facilities and what NC State had to offer materialistically, but the relationships with every staff member in the building is what stuck out to him the most.
No matter who Moreta talked to, he felt like it was an authentic conversation. That was true with defensive coordinator D.J. Eliot, who is also NC State’s linebackers coach.
“He’s a real genuine person, which I love,” Moreta said. “When you go to other schools, the coaches don’t feel as genuine. It could feel like they’re saying the same thing over and over to other recruits. … He’s a great person. It’s been great meeting with Coach Eliot and building a relationship with him.”
While Eliot was able to build a bond with Moreta, following an in-school visit and the junior day trip, his coaching resume also stuck out to the linebacker.

“His background, him coming from the Philadelphia Eagles was a big part for me because him being the linebacker coach and defensive coordinator, that’s the person I want to play for,” Moreta said. “He was at the level I want to be at, and he can help me with that.”
Moreta also noted that NC State’s willingness to coach him hard on the practice field was another selling point. He said he “loved that” after talking with Doeren and Eliot.
Although Moreta is currently unranked, he logged 49 total tackles with four for a loss, an interception and two passes defended in 10 games during his junior season. It was an increase from his sophomore campaign, where he logged six total tackles.
Moreta is now NC State’s fourth commitment of the 2026 cycle. He joins Pfafftown (N.C.) Reagan three-star quarterback Jacob Smith, Richmond (Va.) Trinity Episcopal three-star offensive tackle Brady Sakowitz and Baltimore (Md.) Milford Mill three-star hybrid EDGE/linebacker Koby Sarkodie.
