Live updates from Shamarius Peterkin's commitment ceremony
NC State offered Shamarius Peterkin around 18 months ago. After hosting the four-star receiver consistently on visits and making him a top priority in the 2025 recruiting class, the Winston-Salem (N.C.) Mount Tabor High star is ready to share his decision with the Pack and the rest of the nation.
TheWolfpacker.com is on site today to share minute by minute updates from the announcement. Peterkin’s decision is down to either NC State, North Carolina or Virginia Tech. The Hokies and Wolfpack emerged as the top contenders over the past month.
On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine strongly favors NC State at 93.4 percent. Both TheWolfpacker.com’s Ethan McDowell and On3 president of recruiting Chad Simmons have predictions in for the Pack. With that said, his recruitment looks much, much closer going into the decision.

11:06 a.m. — Four-star wideout Shamarius Peterkin picked Virginia Tech.
11:04 a.m. — Mount Tabor coach Tiesuan Brown said Peterkin’s decision to come to Mount Tabor was one of the greatest days of his life.
11:00 a.m. — The announcement ceremony is underway.
10:56 a.m. — Shamarius has arrived in the auditorium. Friends, family and coaches are filling the seats in preparation for his 11 a.m. decision.

10:55 a.m. — Brown on Peterkin’s commitment: “It’s kind of bittersweet. It really means that his career is almost over here at Mount Tabor, but at the same time, I’m excited about his future. The sky’s the limit for this young man. If he really puts [in the work], I really think we’re going to be watching him on Sundays.”
10:47 a.m. — One of the main reasons TheWolfpacker.com is keeping its prediction in for NC State: his family’s bond with the program. Peterkin’s mother has spoken very highly of the Wolfpack previously.
10:42 a.m. — Per a source, Peterkin is expected to call NC State before announcing his decision around 11 am. His recruitment is headed down to the wire.
10:40 a.m. — I just spoke with Snook Peterkin’s grandmother and other family members. They said the four star wide receiver wanted this to be a surprise, and he’s done a great job keeping his decision close to his chest. None of the three finalists would be a surprise.
