McNeese transfer Quadir Copeland, a former Syracuse guard, commits to NC State

The McNeese to NC State pipeline continues to grow. Former Cowboys guard Quadir Copeland pledged his commitment to Will Wade and the Wolfpack on Thursday.
Copeland, a former Syracuse transfer, has one year of eligibility remaining. The Pack now has eight available scholarships to use for the 2025-26 campaign. Copeland joins McNeese graduate guard Alyn Breed as the program’s two transfer portal additions to this point, while former Cowboys assistants Brandon Chambers and Vernon Hamilton are on staff in Raleigh.
The Philadelphia native averaged 9.2 points with 3.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists in his lone season at McNeese, where he earned Southland Conference Second Team and All-Tournament Team honors. He was able to score and set up his teammates on a consistent basis with 11 double-figure scoring efforts in Southland Conference play, while he added 147 assists — the ninth-most in a single season in program history.
Copeland arrived at McNeese with the goal of winning the conference crown under Wade, who he quickly grew close with during their time together in Lake Charles, La.

“I feel like his best attribute wasn’t really even recruiting, he was just calling some days telling me how I could fit, but when he would call, he was just checking on you,” Copeland told TheWolfpacker.com before McNeese’s NCAA Tournament win over Clemson in Providence, R.I. “Just making sure my mind was straight. … He did his part of actually being a coach and a good person.”
Before he arrived to play for the Cowboys, Copeland played two seasons at Syracuse, where he was a key role player for the Orange. He averaged 9.6 points with 4.6 rebounds and 1.5 steals as a sophomore.
Copeland has a history with NC State. In his second-ever time playing against the Pack, the fiery guard scored 25 on 10-of-13 shooting with eight rebounds to help the Orange to an 87-83 win on Feb. 20, 2024.
