This weekend was a good one for NC State Wolfpack athletics fans. Multiple ACC titles, historic moments and lasting memories were all had in a span of four days:

Thursday:

In a non-conference showdown in Chapel Hill, NC State’s men’s tennis team won a thrilling 4-3 match over No. 23 North Carolina, the first win over its rivals in nine years. It also marked the third victory over a top-25 team this year for the upstart Wolfpack.

Friday:

In the afternoon, the 2022 baseball season began with a bang. Freshman first baseman Tommy White made a spectacular debut with three home runs, while newcomer Dominic Pilolli, a transfer from Charlotte, blasted two more bombs himself to start the year with a 24-6 victory over Evansville.

Meanwhile, Friday evening, the wrestling program continued its in-state dominance. A win in a dual over North Carolina, 25-12, gave the Pack won its ninth straight win over UNC, a new school record.

It also concluded the 10th time in school history that NC State went undefeated in ACC action.

Saturday:

The baseball team had to work harder, but White’s grand slam led the way for a 6-4 win over Evansville in game two of its weekend series.

Meanwhile, in Atlanta, the ACC Swimming & Diving championships were concluding, and the men’s team reclaimed its title that Louisville took last year with a dominant performance. NC State has now won 31 ACC Men’s Swimming and Diving titles, the most of any team in any sport in the ACC.

The women’s swimming team also gave defending national champion Virginia a run for its money before finishing second in the meet.

Sunday:

On the diamonds, the baseball team completed its sweep over Evansville, while in softball the team capped a successful 5-0 weekend in the Wolfpack Classic.

In women’s tennis, NC State, fresh off a Final Four appearance last year and reaching the semifinals of the ITA Indoor Championship earlier in the month, stunned No. 3 and defending national champion Texas, 4-3, in Austin, Texas. The Wolfpack, ranked No. 4 nationally, improved to 11-1 with six of its victories over ranked opponents, including over previously No. 3-ranked Georgia.

But the most memorable action may have occurred in a double header at historic Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, with both events ending with the Wolfpack teams posing for pictures huddling around a regular season championship trophy.

It started with the women’s basketball team crushing Syracuse by 42 points to secure its first ACC regular season title in 32 seasons. NC State, who climbed to No. 3 nationally in the updated Associated Press poll, will be the No. 1 seed as it looks to three-peat at the ACC Tournament in Greensboro, N.C., March 2-6.

Then in the nightcap, in a highly anticipated showdown with top ACC rival and No. 7 Virginia Tech in wrestling, which was technically a nonconference matchup, NC State prevailed 21-10 over the Hokies to cap the regular season.
