The ACC will have a new schedule model for next basketball season with the addition of the three west coast programs. With the new format, each men’s program will have three home-and-home opponents, while the rest will be played just once to make up the 20-game slate.

NC State men’s basketball’s three home-and-home opponents for the 2024-25 campaign are Cal, North Carolina and Wake Forest. Kevin Keatts‘ squad is the only east coast team that Cal will have to see twice, since Stanford and SMU are the Golden Bears’ other protected opponents.

The Wolfpack has played against Cal just twice in program history, both of which were on a neutral floor in the NCAA Tournament. The Wolfpack lost the first meeting 76-74 in Oklahoma City, Okla., during the 2003 edition of the Big Dance. The red and white was able to earn its first win over the Golden Bears with a 58-52 win during the 2006 tournament in Dallas.

The women’s schedule has a slightly different format. Since the ACC only plays 18 league games for the women, each program is protected one opponent that it will play twice with the rest just once.

NC State will play Wake Forest twice next season with every other ACC squad just once. The Demon Deacons and Wolfpack have met 91 times in the past — and they will play again Sunday afternoon. NC State holds the all-time record at 77-14, including wins in the last nine straight games between the two programs.
