NC State basketball falls at home to Clemson, 70-65 (with box score)
NC State basketball star and redshirt sophomore wing Dereon Seabron had his normal production, finishing with 27 points and seven rebounds, but he did not get enough help in the Wolfpack’s 70-65 home loss to Clemson Saturday afternoon at PNC Arena in Raleigh.
NC State shot just 31.7 percent from the field and had 15 turnovers, and no other player besides redshirt senior guard Thomas Allen (10 points) finished in double digits scoring.
The Wolfpack also struggled to contain Clemson inside the arc. The Tigers are known for being a sharp-shooting three-point team, but it made just 3 of 10 against NC State.
On two-pointers, Clemson made 25 of 47 attempts, or 53.2 percent. Clemson’s emerging sophomore forward PJ Hall did most of the damage, making 10 of 16 shots from the field for a team-high 20 points.
Junior guard Al-Amir Dawes added 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting, including connecting on both three-pointers.

NC State jumped out to a 9-0 lead, but a 13-2 run by Clemson put the Tigers up 26-18 with 4:47 remaining in the first half.
The Wolfpack battled back to cut the lead to 30-28 at halftime and then scored the first five points of the second half for its final lead of the contest. The Tigers scored eight in a row to put Clemson up 38-33.
After NC State basketball junior guard Casey Morsell tied the game at 40-40 with 12:48 left, the Tigers scored four straight, and for the next nearly eight minutes held an advantage that alternated between two and four points.
That changed when Seabron fouled Clemson junior guard Alex Hemenway on a three-pointer with 4:56 to go. Hemenway made all three of his free throw attempts to put the Tigers up 60-53, a cushion that proved insurmountable for a Pack team struggling on offense.
NC State basketball falls to 8-8 overall and 1-4 in the ACC, while Clemson improves to 10-5 and 2-2.
The Pack’s next scheduled game is at Louisville Wednesday evening for a 9 p.m. tip on ACC Network.
Final stats from the loss to Clemson is pictured above.
