Trey Parker commits to NC State basketball
The NC State basketball recruiting class for 2023 made another addition with a familiar last name. On3 4-star guard Trey Parker, a native of Fayetteville, N.C., announced his pledge to On3’s Joe Tipton earlier Wednesday evening.
The 6-foot-1, 162-pounder is playing with Overtime Elite in Atlanta. He previously played at Cape Fear High in Fayetteville and then Vertical Academy in Charlotte. On3 rates Parker the No. 72 prospect in the country and the No. 11 point guard nationally in the 2023 class.
The On3 Consensus, the only ranking to equally weight all the major recruiting services rankings, has Parker at No. 149 in the country and the No. 20 point guard.
Parker made a visit to NC State over Halloween weekend. Kansas State and Mississippi State were also recruiting Parker.
“I chose NC State because I felt like this school was the best fit for me and my talent,” Parker said to On3. “The program is getting a dog and a leader.”
Parker has nearly 350,000 followers on social media, leading to a six-figure NIL Valuation. Parker has a projected annual value of $267,000 according to On3.
Part of that is due to Parker’s explosiveness and flare for the game.
“Trey Parker is electric,” On3’s Jamie Shaw scouted. “The explosive guard plays a confident and fearless style with the ball in his hands. He’s got a crafty, but decisive handle that gets him where he wants to go on the floor.
“Parker can play the point in a pick-and -roll system or off the ball as a scorer. HIs range is deep, and his form and release stay consistent. Parker can get a little wild at times, and inconsistent, but the crowd is always entertained. He competes.”
Parker made the move to Overtime Elite (OTE) in Atlanta after last season. OTE is a professional league for 16-20 year olds. Some players receive a minimum salary of $100,000, while others choose a scholarship option to maintain eligibility.

Parker is playing for the Cold Hearts and in 3 games is averaging 15.0 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game.
Former Connecticut national-title winning head coach Kevin Ollie, now coaching at OTE, is impressed with the guard’s athleticism.
“Having the athleticism that Trey possesses is something you can’t teach, and OTE is the perfect place for his next phase of basketball development,” Ollie said. “My coaching staff and I are excited to build off his terrific foundation and prepare him to have success on and off the basketball court for years to come.”
Tim Fuller, OTE Vice President of Recruiting and Player Personnel, echoed Ollie’s thoughts.
“I’ve spent my career working with the top athletes around the world, and Trey’s natural explosiveness continues to blow me away” said Fuller. “We’re excited to see the results of putting a professional basketball development program around him because the sky’s the limit.”
Trey Parker joins wing forward Dennis Parker Jr. in the 2023 class. Dennis Parker is an On3 Consensus 4-star who made his decision public on Oct. 26, choosing NC State over finalists Oklahoma State and Georgetown.
On3 considers Parker, a 6-foot-7, 175-pound star for John Marshall High in Richmond, Virginia, the No. 78 overall prospect and the No. 17 small forward nationally.
