NC State signees Dennis Parker, Trey Parker final On3 rankings
Much of the attention surrounding the NC State basketball team centers around the transfer portal, but not to be forgotten is the 2-player signing class of forward Dennis Parker Jr. and guard Trey Parker. Here is an update on their recruiting rankings after a recent updated release from On3 for the 2023 class.
Dennis Parker Jr.
Dennis Parker Jr. from John Marshall High in Richmond, Va., signed with NC State basketball in November, picking the Wolfpack over Georgetown and Oklahoma State. In 25 games as a senior, Parker averaged 20.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.4 steals per contest while shooting 57.4 percent from the field.
In On3’s newest rankings, Parker (6-foot-7, 175 pounds) is No. 97 in the country, the No. 21 small forward and the No. 2 prospect in the state.
The updated On3 Industry rankings have Parker rated at No. 100 nationally in the 2023 class, the No. 25 small forward and the No. 2 prospect based in Virginia.

Here’s On3’s scouting report for the Pack signee:
Dennis Parker, Jr. has good length and a strong frame. He has a projectable frame that should add weight instantly once in a college strength program. Parker’s defensive ability intrigues. He is a good team defender with great instincts in the passing lanes. He also plays with a toughness and a competitive spirit, which nets him production on that end of the floor. The jump shot is streaky, and the release is inconsistent. He does shoot it better off the bounce with the pull-up than off the catch as a spot shooter. Parker can get downhill in the half-court, and he absorbs contact in the paint. He is a solid to an above-average athlete. A good player who can affect the game on both ends of the floor.
Trey Parker
Trey Parker is a Fayetteville, N.C., native who played at Overtime Elite in Atlanta, which is a semi-pro league for high schoolers that allows participants to maintain collegiate eligibility. In 19 games, the high-flying guard averaged 12.1 points, 2.8 boards, 2.3 steals and 2.2 assists this past season.
The final rankings from On3 places Parker (6-foot-1, 162 pounds) at No. 90 nationally in the 2023 class, including No. 17 among point guards and No. 7 among players currently based in Georgia.
His updated On3 Industry ranking is No. No. 87 nationally, No. 17 amongst point guards and No. 7 in the state.
Here’s On3’s scouting report for the Pack signee:
Trey Parker is electric. The explosive guard plays a confident and fearless style with the ball in his hands. He’s got a crafty, but decisive handle that gets him where he wants to go on the floor. Parker can play the point in a pick-and-roll system or off the ball as a scorer. The range is deep, and his form and release stay consistent. Parker can get a little wild and inconsistent at times, but the crowd is always entertained. He competes. – On3’s Jamie Shaw
