The Wolfpacker Show: NC State basketball roster rundown
The silly season has presumably ended for NC State basketball. The Pack gained six transfers and lost five to the portal since the end of last season.
Newcomers to the Wolfpack program from the transfer portal are:
• Missouri junior forward/center Mohamed Diarra
• Arizona State grad transfer guard DJ Horne
• Clemson sophomore forward/center Ben Middlebrooks
• Stanford junior point guard Michael O’Connell
• Kansas freshman wing/forward MJ Rice
• Butler sophomore guard Jayden Taylor
Outgoing transfers from the NC State basketball roster are:
• Fifth-year senior forward Jack Clark (headed to Clemson)
• Junior center Ebenezer Dowuona (Georgia Tech)
• Redshirt junior forward Greg Gantt (UNC Asheville)
• Fifth-year senior forward/center Dusan Mahorcic (undecided)
• Freshman (midyear enrollee) forward Isaiah Miranda (undecided)
With a lot to digest on the new-look NC State roster, TheWolfpacker.com turned to On3 National Recruiting Director Jamie Shaw to get his thoughts on all of the offseason developments.
You can hear and/or watch Shaw’s discuss the Pack in the latest episode of The Wolfpacker Show.
Among the topics discussed:
• What does O’Connell bring to NC State at the point guard position? Shaw explains that O’Connell is not a typical point guard for Pack coach Kevin Keatts.
• How do Horner and Taylor fit with the Wolfpack as scoring-minded guards? Each have proven Power Five scoring production.
• Can the addition of Rice allow Keatts to return to a small-ball lineup, similar to how Keatts used Torin Dorn in his first two seasons in Raleigh or prior to that in his three-year stint at UNC Wilmington?
