NC State basketball falters late to Wake Forest, 69-51 (with box score)
With 6:00 left, NC State basketball had cut Wake Forest’s lead to 50-49 on a layup by redshirt sophomore wing Dereon Seabron.
Yet again, NC State was within striking distance of a victory.
And, in what felt like a repeat of multiple other games this season, the Pack could not finish.
Wake Forest ended the contest on an 19-2 run to defeat NC State, 69-51. The Wolfpack went scoreless for the final 5:19 of the contest.
The defeat extended the NC State losing streak to five games and dropped the Pack to 10-15 on the year and 3-11 in the ACC.
NC State got a strong second half from Seabron, but he did not have much help. While Seabron finished with 22 points and made 8 of 15 shots, no other Wolfpack player had double digit points and NC State shot just 32.2 percent overall from the field.

NC State spent a large part of the game in a zone defense, but Wake Forest still managed to shoot 54.0 percent from the field and had four players in double figures, led by senior wing Alondes Williams.
Although NC State only had one lead at 2-0, much of the contest was played within striking distance. Wake Forest never led by more than seven points until its game-ending run. The Pack tied the game at 45-45 with 9:03 left at the end of a 9-2 run, leading a timeout from Wake Forest.
With the Deacs leading 50-49, senior forward Isaiah Mucius made a crucial corner three-pointer. After a pair of free throws from Seabron, senior guard Daiven Williamson connected on a three to put the Deacs up 56-51.
Those Seabron free throws were the Wolfpack’s final points of the game.

NC State is next scheduled to play at Pittsburgh Saturday at 3 p.m. The game will be televised by
