NC State DL Nick Campbell to enter transfer portal
NC State redshirt sophomore defensive lineman Nick Campbell will enter the transfer portal once it opens April 16. He announced the news on social media Wednesday after spending two years in Raleigh.
Campbell was one player to watch this spring as the Wolfpack searched for its backup nose guard, but he will now enter the portal, searching for a new collegiate home to spend his final three years of college eligibility.
The lineman posted a thank you message to NC State’s staff and fanbase on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
“Thank You God because without you I am nothing!,” Campbell wrote. “I would like to thank coach Doeren, Wiles and WPN for giving me an opportunity to play at this level. I will never forget the countless memories that I have shared with my teammates. I would also like to thank coach Thunder and his staff for all they have done for me. With that being said I will be entering my name into the Transfer Portal with 3 years of eligibility!!!”

During his redshirt freshman season with the Wolfpack, Campbell played 3 snaps early in the year against VMI. The lineman also logged 10 total snaps played as a true freshman.
He is the scholarship first member of the Pack to announce his intentions to transfer. Walk-on linebacker Patrick Turner also chose to enter the portal Wednesday. This news indicates that fellow redshirt sophomore D.J. Jackson is the Wolfpack’s most likely backup nose tackle. He played that role in the spring game.
A three-star prospect out of Lake Minneola (Fla.) High, the On3 Industry Ranking considered Campbell the No. 711 prospect nationally, the No. 81 defensive lineman and the No. 102 prospect in Florida’s 2022 class. He also held offers from Tennessee, Kentucky, Auburn and others.
