NC State coach Dave Doeren had a busy offseason when it came to reshuffling his coaching staff. He hired two new coordinators, while promoting a pair of staff members to full-time roles. Now, he has extended the other four assistant coaches that were not a part of the initial flurry of moves.
Cornerbacks coach Brian Mitchell, defensive line coach Charley Wiles, offensive line coach Garett Tujague and wide receivers coach Joker Phillips all received one-year extensions with a raise on their existing contracts, according to documents obtained by TheWolfpacker.com via a Freedom of Information Act request.
The four extensions run in line with the contracts that NC State awarded its new hires and promoted staff members in January as all of the Wolfpack assistant coaches have deals that run through the 2026 season. The quartet of newly extended assistants were previously going to be coaching in a contract year this coming fall.
Mitchell received the biggest raise of the new batch of contracts, which were all dated Jan. 21, 2025 and at least two were signed within the last week. The Wolfpack’s cornerbacks coach, who has been in Raleigh since the 2020 season, will make $500,000, up $62,795 from his salary in 2024.

Tujague, meanwhile, will make $545,900 (a $15,900 raise) going into his third season on staff. Wiles’ new contract will pay $515,000 (a $15,000 raise) and Phillips will make $504,700 (a $14,700 raise) in each of the next two years.
NC State’s coaching staff will now have continuity through the next two years as the Wolfpack looks to pursue an ACC Championship. The Pack will open the 2025 season against East Carolina on Aug. 28 at Carter-Finley Stadium.
