NC State football defensive lineman Ibrahim Kante enters transfer portal
For the second time in as many weeks, NC State football had a player enter the transfer portal, this time defensive lineman Ibrahim Kante.
Kante was set to be a super senior this year for the Wolfpack and will have one season of eligibility remaining.
In 2021, Kante played 11 contests and had 10 tackles, including 4.5 for loss and three sacks. Prior to this past fall, Kante has started 13 games over three years. Between 2018-20, the 6-foot-4, 265-pounder from New York had 42 tackles, including 8.5 for loss and 1.5 sacks, and also added two quarterback hurries.
Kante came to NC State after spending a prep year at Trinity Pawling Prep in Trinity, N.Y. He was a late-developing recruitment, picking up offers from Boston College, NC State and Rutgers in the month prior to the 2017 February signing period. Prior to that, Temple was a leader in his recruitment.

Last week, redshirt freshman quarterback Aaron McLaughlin also went into the transfer portal.
Other players to have announced transfers included defensive back Mario Love Jr. (picked North Carolina A&T), defensive back Khalid Martin and receiver/defensive back Max Fisher.
NC State football will begin spring practices Wednesday and conclude with its annual spring game April 9 at 1 p.m. The Wolfpack will open its season Sept. 3 at East Carolina.
