The Wolfpacker Podcast: NC State at Louisville reflections
The NC State football team is undergoing the first losing streak in the program since the 2020 season. A 25-10 loss at Louisville dropped the Wolfpack to 7-4 overall and to 3-4 in the ACC ahead of a regular season finale at North Carolina on Friday. The Cardinals improved to 7-4 overall with the win and finished the conference slate with a 4-4 mark.
The Wolfpacker’s Matt Carter and Ethan McDowell dive into the NC State-Louisville game from multiple angles in our weekly Postgame Reflections podcast episode, which can be seen and heard below.
Among the many topics discussed during the recording of the podcast:
• What could have been realistically expected for this game, especially from the NC State offense, after there was confirmation that freshman quarterback MJ Morris, super senior center Grant Gibson, sophomore running back Demie Sumo-Karngbaye, fifth-year redshirt junior receiver Devin Carter and fifth-year redshirt junior tight end Trent Pennix would not be play with injuries.
• Did third-year freshman quarterback Ben Finley show enough in the loss to make a convincing case to be the signal-caller against North Carolina on Friday if Morris is unable to play again? The duo broke down his performance, both the good and the bad.
• In the big picture, how much would a win over rival North Carolina for NC State on Friday mean for this season? And is the Tar Heels suffering an upset home loss after blowing a 17-0 lead to Georgia Tech a good or bad thing for the Wolfpack?
• Looking ahead to what is expected to be a very busy month of December for the NC State football program, Ethan goes over three names to watch on the recruiting trail
