NC State football recruiting in-state signees in On3 Consensus rankings
With the February national signing day in the books, a historically non-existent one for NC State football recruiting, many of the final rankings have also been completed.
How did the Wolfpack in-state targets finish up in the On3 Consensus, a complete and (only) equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, for the state of North Carolina in the 2022 class?
Based on the tabulations seen here, NC State emerged with seven top 35 prospects from the state.
Leading the way in the top 10 is early enrollee and On3 Consensus four-star linebacker Torren Wright from Kannapolis (N.C.) A.L. Brown High. The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder picked NC State over offers from Duke and West Virginia.
Using On3’s Industry Comparison for the top prospects in the state of North Carolina, three of the four major recruiting industries had Wright a four star, with On3 being the exception. It had Wright a three-star and No. 14 in the state.
Just missing the top 10 is On3 Consensus four-star running back Michael Allen from Greenville’s J.H. Rose High. Like Wright, the 5-foot-9, 200-pounder enrolled early after rushing for 1,169 yards 18 touchdowns and adding 643 receiving yards and eight more scores this past season.
Allen checks in at No. 11 after being a four-star and top 10 in the state by 247 and ESPN but not On3 and Rivals. Allen chose NC State over North Carolina, Louisville and East Carolina.
On3 Consensus three-star linebacker Daejuan Thompson from Whiteville High is No. 15. On3 is most bullish on Thompson, penciling the 6-foot-2, 181-pounder as a four star, the lone service to do so. He picked NC State over Duke.
Thompson had 115 tackles, including 31 for loss and 15 sacks, as a senior.
On3 was also the lone service to rate On3 Consensus three-star corner Jackson Vick from Southern Nash High in Bailey as a four star. On3 also had Vick (5-foot-11, 172 pounds) rated the No. 5 prospect overall in the state.

Vick’s On3 Consensus is the No. 20 prospect in North Carolina.
Vick, who also had offers from Duke, Syracuse and Wake Forest, ran 138 times for 1,211 yards and 16 touchdowns and made 13 tackles and an interception as a senior, has enrolled early at NC State.
On3 Consensus three-star receiver Terrell Timmons Jr. from Northern Guilford High in Greensboro was a late-developing recruitment, but he finished at No. 27 in the On3 Consensus rankings. Both On3 (No. 21) and Rivals (No. 25) had Timmons in its top 25 of the state.
The 6-foot-1, 170-pounder had 38 catches for 549 yards and 11 touchdowns last season and also returned two punts for scores.
Two spots behind Timmons is On3 Consensus three-star defensive back Isaiah Crowell from East Forsyth High in Kernersville. On3 was the lone service to not have Crowell in its top 25 in the state.
The 5-foot-10, 175-pound early enrollee for NC State also had offers from Duke, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Louisville, Ole Miss, Syracuse and Virginia tech, among others. He made 93 tackles, including 12 for loss and four sacks, and added an interception and seven pass breakups last season.
The final in-state signee is center Rylan Vann from Cary High, checking in at No. 34 in the On3 Consensus. The 6-foot-1, 265-pounder was rated top 30 in the state by both Rivals (No. 28) and 247 (No. 29). On3 had him at No. 33.
