NC State football’s 2024 recruiting class is reaching unprecedented heights right now. Thanks to a commitment from four-star linebacker Elijah Groves, the Wolfpack climbed all the way into the top-30 of the On3 Industry rankings.

When the top-300 recruit flipped from Kentucky to NC State Wednesday, the program rose 7 spots up to No. 27. The Wolfpack holds 21 commits in a class that ranks No. 5 in the ACC. Groves, the No. 256 recruit in the country, is the No. 3 ranked recruit for the Pack’s 2024 squad, trailing only four-star wide receivers Terrell Anderson and Jonathan Paylor.

If the program can maintain this standing by minimizing attrition and adding a few key junior college prospects, then it would be the highest-ranked class of the Dave Doeren era.

NC State’s 2019 class, which featured defensive lineman Savion Jackson, cornerback Shyheim Battle, linebacker Drake Thomas and others, ranked No. 28 nationally and went on to produce quite a few star players. That was also the No. 5 class in the ACC.

The 2018 squad, headlined by linebacker Payton Wilson and running back Ricky Person, finished as the No. 30 class in the country. Those two groups, which produced All-Americans and future NFL Draft picks, are Doeren’s only top-30 classes.

Thanks to the Wolfpack’s recent run of success, NC State sits in position to add another star-studded group of players to the program. A total of eight prospects in the 2024 cycle are ranked as a four-star prospect by at least one recruiting service. This year, in-state prospects make up 33-percent of the class, and NC State holds commitments from prospects who attend high school in Ohio, Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina, Alabama, Virginia, West Virginia and Georgia.
