Rohan Davy flips from Cincinnati to NC State
NC State football recruiting targeted On3 Consensus three-star athlete Rohan Davy in the spring, but the Wolfpack missed out on him to Cincinnati. However, come signing day, Davy appears poised to send his letter of intent to NC State, after all.
Davy announced his commitment to NC State on Instagram Tuesday afternoon after taking an official visit to Raleigh over the weekend. He could play either safety or linebacker for the Pack.

The 5-foot-9, 200-pound athlete at St. John’s in Washington, D.C., is rated by the On3 Consensus as the No. 78 athlete in the country and the No. 8 recruit in the District of Columbia region. He will play in the Under Armour All-America Game Jan. 3 as a safety and was one of 6 athletes at the position to make the team.
Davy was on the NC State football recruiting board before his commitment to Cincinnati in April. Davy was supposed to visit Raleigh the Friday before he announced a decision, but that trip did not happen. Instead, hybrid defender went ahead and picked Cincinnati.
Since then, there has been a coaching chance for the Bearcats. Former Louisville head coach Scott Satterfield is now at Cincinnati, replacing Luke Fickell, who was hired at Wisconsin. Louisville, along with Maryland and Pittsburgh, were among Davy’s other offers at the time of his original pledge.
NC State hosted him last weekend for a visit and quickly secured the flip. He is the Wolfpack’s No. 17 commit of the 2023 class and the first prospect committed as an athlete.

The Pack holds commitments from five other defensive backs— four-star cornerback Brandon Cisse, four-star safety Daemon Fagan, three-star safety Zack Myers, three-star safety Tamarcus Cooley and three-star cornerback Terrente Hinton. Cooley is trending towards Maryland as signing day approaches.
Davy could also play linebacker at the next level, which means he would join a class of three-star prospects Kelvon McBride and Kamal Bonner, who both committed to the program in the past month.
After three-star running back Kyron Jones decommitted from the Wolfpack, the program fell down to No. 39 in the On3 Consensus team recruiting rankings. A ratings bump for junior college defensive lineman Jykeveous Hibbler and Davy’s commitment helped the Pack climb back up to No. 35 and No. 6 in the ACC.
His senior season highlight reel is filled with massive hits, playing as a hybrid defender for St. John’s. According to his HUDL, Davy is a four-year starter for his high school program, a two-time team captain, and he made the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference twice.
