NC State downed East Carolina 24-17 to open the 2025 campaign Thursday night at Carter-Finley Stadium. Although the Wolfpack was able to avenge its Military Bowl loss to the Pirates, there was plenty for the team to learn from in the victory. The Pack's offense was paced by an explosive passing attack, led by sophomore quarterback CJ Bailey, who was 24-for-34 passing for 318 yards with two total touchdowns and an interception. He was able to link up with senior wideout Wesley Grimes on four passes for 121 yards and a score, while freshman route runner Teddy Hoffmann added five receptions for 93 yards in his collegiate debut.
