NC State football is hosting its annual spring game Saturday afternoon. There is persistent rain in the Triangle region and the conditions are wet and cold, but the scrimmage will proceed as planned.

Game ends (3:10 p.m.)

Sophomore quarterback MJ Morris saved his best for last, including a 43-yard pass to freshman wideout Kevin Concepcion to reach the 1-yard line, setting up junior Demie Sumo-Karngbaye’s 1-yard touchdown run to end the scrimmage.

Red team wins 42-10.

Terrell Timmons Jr. show off his speed (3:03 p.m.)

Taking a short screen pass from sophomore quarterback MJ Morris, sophomore receiver Terrell Timmons Jr. caught the throw three-yards behind the line of scrimmage and sprinted past the defense for a 62-yard score. That is the first passing score of the game.

Ground game dominating second half (2:42 p.m.)

The Red Team extended the lead to 28-10 with MJ Morris now operating at quarterback for NC State. the first touchdown drive of the second half for the Pack featured seven runs in a row, all by either sophomore Michael Allen or fifth-year redshirt junior Delbert Mimms III, the latter responsible for the score on a 2-yard run.

• Brennan Armstrong: 14-of-28 passing for 127 yards and 2 interceptions

(Notably, Armstrong played the entire first half with starters)

• MJ Morris: 3-of-4 passing for 27 yards (also responsible for all 3 sacks)

• Ben Finley: 1-of-3 passing for -1 yards and an interception

Second interception of day for Brennan Armstrong (2:00 p.m.)

Super senior quarterback Brennan Armstrong has quarterbacked the first string the entire first half thus far, but he has also throw two interceptions.

The first was a pick six, and the second came near the red zone by walk-on Jamarion Montford.

Red team converts turnover into touchdown (1:43 p.m.)

Early enrollee true freshman running back Kendrick Raphael was stripped by fourth-year junior defensive lineman Davin Vann, who recovered the fumble at the White 32-yard line.

A heavy dose of sophomore running back Michael Allen led a touchdown drive. Allen scored on a one-yard rush.

Second pick six of the scrimmage (1:36 p.m.)

White team fourth-year redshirt sophomore quarterback Ben Finley tried a deep shot to sophomore receiver Terrell Timmons Jr., but fifth-year redshirt junior corner Shyheim Battle was well-positioned for the interception and returned it 57 yards for a score.

White team takes the lead (1:31 p.m.)

The reserves moved ahead of the starters, 10-7, in the first quarterback after super senior quarterback Brennan Armstrong threw a 41-yard pick six to redshirt senior safety Darius Edmundson.

Brennan Armstrong strong first drive with starters (1:09 p.m.)

Sophomore quarterback MJ Morris began the game with the White team, but the reserves went backwards on the opening possession before a short punt gave the Red team possession at the 41-yard line.

Super senior Brennan Armstrong, a transfer to NC State from Virginia, went 4 for 5 for 30 yards to lead a touchdown drive that was capped by a 7-yard run from super senior Jordan Houston.
