To say the last few weeks for NC State have been busy would be perhaps an understatement. Among the developments since the Wolfpack’s exciting double-overtime win over North Carolina the day after Thanksgiving includes:

• NC State offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Tim Beck accepting a job as head coach at Coastal Carolina and being replaced by Syracuse offensive coordinator Robert Anae.

In other staffing news, NC State offensive line coach/run game coordinator John Garrison went to Ole Miss, and Virginia offensive line coach Garett Tujague was hired as his replacement. Tujague had previously worked with Anae at both Virginia and BYU.

• The NCAA transfer portal cranked up, and NC State football was not exempt. Fifth-year redshirt junior quarterback Devin Leary and fifth-year redshirt junior receiver Devin Carter headlined the relatively smaller list of players from the Wolfpack to enter the portal.

• The NC State football recruiting class continues to fill out, currently sitting at 17 commits but that number is subject to change as some pledges are considering other options, and other prospects are rising up the Pack’s wishlist.

With host Justin H. Williams, The Wolfpacker‘s Matt Carter dive into the latest involving NC State football in our latest podcast episode

Among the many topics discussed:

• A reflection back on Leary’s decision and how does NC State move forward.

• Why a lot of the moves surrounding NC State football thus far this offseason have seemed to time up well, especially when involving the coaching hires. Matt explains how Garrison’s move to Ole Miss and Anae and Tujague’s hirings seemed to pair up almost too well with each other.

Offensive coordinators typically like to work with their choice of coaches, especially on the offensive line. Anae and Tujague has a long-standing working relationship that dates back double-digit years.

• A look into the bigger picture of the silly season in college football that has centered around the month of December, which has become an almost impossible month of multi-tasking for coaches like NC State’s Doeren.

A lot of that is driven by the combination of the transfer portal and NIL. Is there any realistic way to rein that in, and how long before we really know the long-term impact of this period?

Plus, Matt explains why this is the golden era for being a college football quarterback.

• The show does end with some NC State basketball talk, and why Saturday’s game against Vanderbilt does loom somewhat large for the Wolfpack.

• And much more!
