NC State G/F Dennis Parker Jr. enters transfer portal

NC State’s second transfer portal departure arrived just hours before Will Wade was set to be introduced as the Wolfpack’s next head coach on Tuesday. Sophomore guard/forward Dennis Parker Jr. entered his name in the NCAA’s database with two years of eligibility remaining.
Parker joins forward Ben Middlebrooks, who entered the portal on Monday afternoon. The Pack has five open scholarships to use for the 2025-26 season.
The Richmond, Va., native averaged 3.8 points with 2.8 rebounds and 0.5 assists in his two seasons at NC State. Parker appeared in 56 total games, including 12 starts as a freshman, as he scored 214 total points on 41.5 percent shooting.
Parker had instant-impact potential as a freshman, including a career-best 18 points and nine rebounds against Vanderbilt in the Vegas Showdown on Nov. 23, 2023. He also posted 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting in a 76-60 win over Virginia on Jan. 6, 2024 — his best showing in an ACC game during his time in Raleigh.

But as his freshman year went along, Parker’s role slowly diminished. He missed the Wolfpack’s entire postseason run to the Final Four with mononucleosis.
When Parker returned for his sophomore campaign, he was recruited over through the transfer portal behind former UNC and Georgetown standout Dontrez Styles. That moved Parker to the bench for good, where he scored in double figures once — 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting in a 66-56 win over Coppin State on Dec. 10.
Parker appeared in 27 total games, averaging 12.3 minutes, this past season.
