NC State K Collin Smith to enter transfer portal
NC State’s first post-bowl game transfer portal entry has arrived as kicker Collin Smith announced his intent to leave the Wolfpack on Saturday morning via a social media post.
“As I reflect on the past five years, I am filled with gratitude for this incredible journey and the lifelong friendships forged within this community,” Smith wrote. “NC State has been more than a university: it’s been a home where I’ve grown, learned, and thrived.”
“Earning my bachelor’s degree here has been a privilege and I’m equally excited to have begun my journey toward an MBA,” Smith continued. “The opportunities and support I’ve received have shaped my academic and personal growth, setting the foundation for the next chapter. Thank you, NC State, for the memories, lessons, and a sense of belonging that will resonate with me for a lifetime.”
Smith served as the Wolfpack’s kickoff specialist for the past two seasons. He booted 66 kickoffs for 4,080 yards this fall, an average of 61.8 yards per attempt with 40 touchbacks. Smith finished his NC State career with 138 kickoffs in 27 contests for a total of 8,630 yards with 80 touchbacks and four out of bounds — none this season.

The Gibsonville, N.C., native was behind a pair of effective kickers in his time with the red and white. Smith attempted two field goals in his Wolfpack career, and was 1-of-2 with a 40-yard make last fall.
Smith was an effective kicker at E. Guilford High with 184 kicking points during his career. He was 27-of-41 on field goal attempts, while he made 103 extra points.
