No. 10 NC State ran through the Raleigh Regional, winning three games in as many days to punch its ticket to the Athens Super Regional next weekend. And as the Wolfpack dominated the regional, it landed five players on the All-Regional team.

Graduate third baseman Alec Makarewicz led the Wolfpack’s selections, including being named the regional’s most outstanding player, after he went 6-for-14 with four doubles, a home run and five RBI.

While the East Carolina transfer paced NC State’s honorees, he was joined by graduate first baseman Garrett Pennington, junior shortstop Brandon Butterworth, sophomore center fielder Eli Serrano III and freshman reliever Jacob Dudan.

Pennington went 5-for-13 over the weekend with two doubles, two home runs, three RBI and five runs scored, while Butterworth was 4-for-12 with a double and three RBI and elite defense in the middle infield during all three wins.

Serrano impressed in center field for the Wolfpack, while he had a solid start to the weekend with four hits in the first two games, including three in the win over South Carolina.

Dudan, meanwhile, made two appearances out of the bullpen in the regional. He had three perfect innings with six strikeouts to earn a save against Bryant, while he added two innings of one-run relief with four strikeouts against JMU.

In addition to the Wolfpack’s five selections, South Carolina and JMU had three players on the all-tournament team as well. The Gamecocks earned recognition for catcher Cole Messina, left fielder Will Brewer and designated hitter Ethan Petry, while JMU had second baseman Mike Mancini, right fielder Brendan O’Donnell and reliever Donovan Burke.
