NC State lands Canadian transfer F Ismael Diouf
NC State landed a surprise commitment from Laval University (Can.) transfer forward Ismaël Diouf on Monday morning, he announced via social media. He is expected to have multiple years of eligibility remaining.
Diouf was most recently the first overall selection by the Montreal Alliance of the Canadian Elite Basketball League.
“I am incredibly thankful to have been a part of the Montréal Alliance,” Diouf said in a statement put out by the Alliance. “The support and encouragement from my coaches, teammates, and fans have been invaluable. I look forward to this next chapter at NC State and will carry the lessons I’ve learned here with me.”
The forward spent the previous two seasons at Laval, where he averaged 10.1 points and 6.2 rebounds this past season. After that campaign, Diouf averaged 18.3 points and 11.7 rebounds in the Final 8 Tournament with Laval and led them to the national championship. He was named to the Final 8 All-Star Team and earned the MVP of the tournament.
