NC State lands commitment from 4-star PF Mikey Wilkins
NC State landed a commitment from four-star power forward Mikey Wilkins, the No. 84 player in the class of 2025, he announced on social media Saturday afternoon.
Wilkins officially visited NC State last weekend, his second trip of his recruitment after he spent time at Georgetown the previous weekend. He chose the Wolfpack over the Hoyas, as well as offers from Clemson, LSU, Michigan, VCU and Virginia Tech among others.
The 6-foot-8, 240-pound forward has shades of NC State legend DJ Burns in his own game, something that the Wolfpack coaching staff appeared to use as a recruiting tool in their pursuit of Wilkins.
“I saw how they used DJ Burns there — he was a force inside,” Wilkins said earlier this year. “When he got the ball inside and drew two, he would just kick it out and move it around. I can do all that.”
Wilkins, the No. 4 player in North Carolina’s 2025 class, helped Arden (N.C.) Christ School to the independent schools 4A state championship this past season, and he was key in guiding Team United to a Peach Jam berth this summer.

“Mikey has a high basketball IQ and elite feel for the game,” Christ School coach Josh Coley told On3‘s Jamie Shaw earlier this year. “He is a worker, and he holds his teammates to a standard. No environment has been too big for him yet. The more competitive the situation, the more competitive he becomes. He is a winner.”
The Rutherfordton, N.C., native averaged 13.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.1 blocks in his first season at Christ School, according to HighSchoolOT.
Before Wilkins enrolled at Christ School, he spent his first two high school seasons at R-S Central, where he made a name for himself around North Carolina, averaging 28 points with 11.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists as a sophomore.
Wilkins is the second commitment of the Wolfpack’s 2025 recruiting class, joining three-star guard RJ Greer, who committed in June.
