NC State lands commitment from Missouri transfer CB Jaren Sensabaugh
NC State picked up a surprise commitment from Missouri cornerback Jaren Sensabaugh on Sunday afternoon.
The rising redshirt freshman is a former four-star prospect and he the No. 34 overall cornerback in the 2024 recruiting cycle. He appeared in one game for the Tigers this past season to preserve four years of eligibility remaining.
Sensabaugh, who entered the transfer portal on Saturday, held the Wolfpack in high regard during his high school recruitment. He put NC State inside his top three out of Nashville (Tenn.) Ensworth School, though he eventually committed to Missouri.
While Sensabaugh picked the Tigers out of high school, he built a relationship with NC State coach Dave Doeren through that process. The defensive back admired the now 12th-year coach’s even-keeled mindset, which stood out the most during his initial recruitment.
“Coach Doeren told me that he really admired my playstyle,” Sensabaugh said after his official visit in Nov. 2023. “He’s looking for me to come there and play and that they really want me and need me. I just like that coach Doeren is always at one level. He’s never too excited, never too down.

“He always just stays at one pace, which builds a really good relationship throughout the team, and you can see it when they play. They never get too hyped, they never get too low, they always just stay disciplined. I think that’s why they were able to beat UNC and they were able to put on such a good performance.”
Sensabaugh’s addition to the Wolfpack roster adds much-needed depth in the secondary after four defensive backs entered the transfer portal in the waning minutes of the entry window last week.
Sophomore cornerback Brandon Cisse, who hosted Sensabaugh on his official visit in high school, was a part of the quartet that elected to look elsewhere. Now, Sensabaugh has an opportunity to replace Cisse in NC State’s secondary.
Sensabaugh, whose father, Gerald, played eight years in the NFL after suiting up for UNC collegiately, is NC State’s sixth transfer portal commitment of the cycle. He joins linebacker AJ Richardson (Norfolk State), offensive linemen Brock Stukes (NC A&T), Jalen Grant (Purdue) and Teague Anderson (Utah State) and tight end Cody Hardy (Elon).
