NC State LHP Win Scott enters transfer portal
NC State junior left-handed pitcher Win Scott entered the transfer portal Thursday morning, TheWolfpacker.com has learned.
Scott is the fifth NC State player to enter the transfer portal, joining fellow pitchers Garrett Payne, Chance Mako, and Christopher Zupito, as well as freshman infielder Robert Nedry.
The Jamestown, N.C., native made eight appearances out of the bullpen this season for the Wolfpack. He logged 10 innings with 10 earned runs allowed on eight hits. He logged 10 strikeouts with eight walks en route to a 9.00 ERA.
Scott was on the Wolfpack’s ACC Tournament roster, but was one of three players that did not make the NCAA Tournament 27-man roster. He last appeared in NC State’s 5-4 win over North Carolina on April 19, where he did not record an out and allowed a hit and a walk on six pitches.
The southpaw’s longest appearance this season came in a 5-4 loss to UNCW on April 9. He went 4.2 innings with two runs allowed on three hits. He struck out three with two walks in that outing.

While he made a career-best eight outings this spring, Scott logged seven as a sophomore a year ago. He recorded 5.1 innings with a 3.38 ERA and seven strikeouts during the 2023 campaign, limiting opposing hitters to a .211 batting average.
During his freshman year in 2022, Scott made four appearances from the bullpen. He logged 5.1 innings with four earned runs on nine hits with seven strikeouts and four walks during his first collegiate campaign.
Though Scott is the fifth Wolfpack player to enter the transfer portal, NC State has already landed two commitments from mid-major programs in the state. The Pack garnered a commitment from Campbell outfielder Dalen Thompson earlier this month, while UNC Greensboro right-hander Julien Peissel announced his decision to join NC State on Tuesday night.
