After NC State’s defense helped propel the Wolfpack to a big win over Clemson, the Wolfpack are gearing up for another home test, this time against Miami. According to The Action Network’s opening line, the Pack is a 4-point underdog against the Hurricanes this weekend.

NC State enters the game fresh off a 24-17 win over Clemson at Carter-Finley Stadium, which included 2 interceptions that turned into touchdowns — graduate linebacker Payton Wilson had a pick six to lead the way.

The Hurricanes went to overtime with Virginia, but edged the Cavaliers 29-26 at home.

NC State (5-3, 2-2 ACC) is 2-5-1 against the spread this season. The Pack covered against Marshall (W 48-41, -6.5) and Clemson (W 24-17, +10), while it failed to do so against UConn (W 24-14, -14.5), Notre Dame (L 45-24, +7), VMI (W 45-7, -43.5), Virginia (W 24-21, -8) and Duke (L 24-3, +4). It was a push against Louisville (L 13-10, +3).

Miami (6-2, 2-2 ACC), meanwhile, is 4-4 against the spread this fall. The Hurricanes covered the spread against Miami (Ohio) (W 38-3, -16.5), Texas A&M (W 48-33, +2.5), Temple (W 41-7, -23) and Clemson (W 28-20 +6). Miami failed to cover the points against Bethune-Cookman (W 48-7, -54), Georgia Tech (L 23-20, -19), North Carolina (L 41-31, +2.5) and Virginia (W 29-26, -18.5).

NC State is 5-11-1 all time against Miami, including a 1-4 mark in Raleigh. The Wolfpack has dropped its last four meetings with the Hurricanes with its last win coming in a 38-28 decision in 2008.

Since coach Dave Doeren took over at NC State, he is 0-3 against Miami. Although Doeren hasn’t beaten the Hurricanes, the last two meetings have been decided by a combined five points. Most recently, the Pack lost 44-41 at Carter-Finley in 2020 and fell 31-30 in Miami in 2021.

Wide receiver Xavier Restrepo is the Canes’ leading receiver with 57 receptions for 648 yards and 4 touchdowns.
