NC State women’s basketball graduate forward Mimi Collins was named a top-10 candidate for the 2024 Katrina McClain Award, which goes to the top power forward in NCAA women’s Division I basketball.

Collins is averaging a career-best 11.7 points this season for the Wolfpack. She is shooting 45.5% from the field, while she has logged a career-high 6.7 rebounds a game. Collins eclipsed 1,000 career points earlier this season, and she recorded a new career high with 25 points at Virginia on New Year’s Eve.

The Slidell, La., native has appeared in all 51 games since she transferred to NC State from Maryland in the summer of 2022. Collins has not scored fewer than 9 points in ACC play thus far, and she most recently logged 14 points on an efficient 6-of-11 shooting in the Pack’s 71-49 win at Clemson on Thursday night.

Collins is one of 10 nominees for the McClain Award, which will be cut down to five finalists in early March. Fans can vote for Collins online, and it will count as one committee vote during the finalist selection process.

Quote of the day

NC State women’s basketball beat Clemson, and coach Wes Moore hopes the Pack takes the same mindset it had against the Tigers to Boston College on Sunday.

“We’ve just got to, hopefully, keep this same energy we had tonight and, when we start the game, come out and be the aggressor and see where the chips fall,” Moore said.
