NC State will attend its ACC Kickoff media day Thursday, answering questions and previewing the upcoming season. The even is split up into three days this year and, earlier this week, ACC commissioner Jim Phillips delivered his annual address that essentially serves as the conference’s state of the union.

During that speech, he addressed the buzz earlier in the year around a few programs expressing their discontent in the league as it remains poised to fall further behind in revenue from the SEC and the Big 10. Phillips made sure to express complete confidence in the ACC’s current state and its television deal with ESPN.

“This league is healthy,” Phillips said. “It just is. And certainly, there are rumblings again. We all saw what happened in the springtime. But the group has come together in a way to me that demonstrates they want to work together to find solutions.

“The ESPN partnership is really strong. And ESPN and the ACC are completely motivated together to generate additional dollars.”

In addition to those comments, Phillips also made sure to acknowledge that the league is behind the SEC and Big 10 in revenue, but they have hired multiple television consultants to advice them on the situation. He emphasized that the conference should be chasing success on the field or court and not a specific dollar amount.
