TheWolfpacker.com’s Tuesday Morning Newsstand

NC State baseball was supposed to have one last non-conference game to close out the regular season. However, that will not happen. The school announced Tuesday morning that due to the threat of storms the 6 p.m. game against Richmond has been canceled.

That means that the Pack went an impressive 21-2 against non-conference opponents this year, the lone losses to potential regional host East Carolina on the road and at home to Elon, one of the favorites to win the Colonial Athletic Association. NC State beat ECU in a rematch in Raleigh.

According to D1Baseball.com, the current non-conference strength of schedule for the Pack is No. 100 (out of 305 baseball teams in the Division I level). The most notable wins for NC State was beating RPI No. 12 Coastal Carolina on the road, No. 22 ECU at home and sweeping a pair of games home and away against No. 62 UNC Wilmington. Elon is No. 53 in the RPI.

The cancellation will allow the NC State pitching staff to be fully rested for a crucial three-game series starting Thursday against North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Both teams are fighting to be on the right side of the NCAA Tournament bubble.

The breaking news for men’s basketball Tuesday morning was that redshirt freshman forward Isaiah Miranda was entering the transfer portal.

One of the top targets on the NC State basketball recruiting board in the 2024 class is On3 Industry four-star guard Jaeden Mustaf, and what was expected to be an unofficial visit in June has now changed.

The newest addition to the Wolfpack women’s team, center Lizzy Williamson of Southern Utah, shows off her new school colors.

One of the top running backs in the 2025 class, Bo Jackson from Cleveland, has picked up an offer from the Pack.
