Following an abrupt ending to the 2022 NC State baseball season, head coach Elliot Avent and Co. are tasked with retooling a roster that saw some departures. The Wolfpack is doing so through the transfer portal, adding five athletes so far this year.
Here’s more info from The Wolfpacker’s article ‘NC State baseball adds another transfer portal commitment.’
There are now two former Davidson standout hitters joining the NC State baseball program. Outfielder Trevor Candelaria, a native of Durango, Colo., announced last week that he was joining the squad.
Candelaria broke out in 2021 when he hit .285 with 11 homers and 17 doubles in 172 at bats. He also stole 13 bases and was named all-conference. In two games against NC State, Candelaria went 3 for 7 with two doubles and a home run and walked once.
This past season, Candelaria was a star, batting .342 with 13 home runs, 19 doubles and a pair of triples in 234 at bats. He also drove in 62 while scoring 62 times as well. His on-base percentage was an impressive .452, and he stole 13 bases. He was named first-team All-Atlantic 10 and helped Davidson go 43-13.
Candelaria played right field for Davidson last year next to centerfielder Parker Nolan, who earlier announced his plans to transfer to NC State.

Quote of the day
This quote is from Wolfpack linebacker Isaiah Moore discussing his return from last year’s injury in our article ‘NC State in elite company with two linebackers on Butkus watch list.’
“It’s a surreal feeling man,” Moore said. “All of the work that I put in to get my body to the way it is now, shout out to our training staff for putting me in position to get healthy and to be great. My support cast around me, my family, my brothers, my brothers on the team. They’ve been great man. I’m especially ready to be back with them.”
