NC State Newsstand: Casey Morsell sets Pack record for single-season starts
NC State graduate guard Casey Morsell has seen a lot during his three-year career with the Wolfpack. The red and white went 11-21 (4-16 ACC) in his first season with the Pack, but he helped turn the program around with back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances and a trip to the Final Four.
While Morsell has been a vocal leader for the Wolfpack, he was the only player to start every game this past season for NC State. That led to him setting the record for the most starts in a single season at NC State with 41, which was the most games the Pack has played as a team ever.
Morsell also holds the longest record for most consecutive starts — 86 straight games across three seasons — under coach Kevin Keatts at NC State.
The Ft. Washington, Md., native averaged 11.1 points with 2.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists this past season at NC State. He had a season-best 28 points in the Pack’s 95-86 loss to BYU in Las Vegas on Nov. 24 and he got close to repeating that effort in the ACC Tournament with a 25-point output in the first round win over Louisville.
Morsell was one of three players who exhausted his eligibility after the Final Four run. He was joined by graduates DJ Burns and DJ Horne with their final college game coming at State Farm Stadium just outside of Phoenix.
